FS Regulatory was established by Jon Newman in February 2024 to provide independent regulatory consulting and subject matter expertise to the financial services industry.
As a former EY Partner, Director at Alpha FMC and Senior Associate at the Financial Services Authority, Jon has an extensive track record of helping firms navigate the increasingly complex and demanding regulatory environment.
With deep technical understanding and having operated at the most senior levels, Jon’s experience spans all UK FS sectors, with a particular specialism in wealth management and retail advice.
His expertise spans vital regulatory areas, including the Consumer Duty, suitability of advice, remediation of consumer harm, product testing, and broader conduct of business matters.

About Jon
Before establishing FS Regulatory, Jon was a Director within Alpha FMC’s insurance consulting division, where he commenced the build out of its conduct risk advisory proposition across life, pensions, retail investments, and GI.
Previously, Jon was a Partner in EY’s UKFS consulting business, where he specialised in the remediation of consumer harm — specifically, helping firms validate and size risks and issues and leading the design and execution of customer remediation programmes. He has led some of the UK’s largest and most complex remediation programmes.
Before joining EY in March 2011, Jon was a Senior Associate within the FSA’s conduct risk division, where he led the FSA’s work on structured investment product advice following the collapse of Lehman Brothers. He also played a lead role in the thematic reviews of pension switching and risk profiling across a range of distributor firms.
Jon began his career as an aide to the Rt. Hon. Charles Hendry, a former Shadow Minister for Industry, Enterprise, and Consumer Affairs, where he was involved extensively in discussions with key FS senior execs and trade bodies.
